When Jaylen joined our STEM Explorers program at age 14, he was struggling in school and lacked direction. Through patient mentoring from Marcus Williams and the hands-on coding projects in our program, Jaylen discovered a natural talent for programming.
"Before Bright Futures, I didn't think college was for me," Jaylen says. "My mentor showed me that I could build things with code, and that changed everything."
Today, Jaylen is a sophomore at State University studying computer science on a full scholarship. He returns to Bright Futures every summer to mentor younger participants.
